On August 13, 2023, the Bridgeview Foundation hosted its fifth annual back-to-school event. More than 350 children and parents attended and had a memorable experience. The event was successful with the help of numerous organizations and individuals, including Food for the Poor Jamaica, Food For The Poor Canada, Love and Power Ministries Deliverance Center, Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation, Dilly Chris Music, Motivating Young Minds, Next-to-Nature Pets and Plant Ltd, Utech Community Service and Development and many other individuals!
Together, we were able to give a scholarship worth 200,000 JMD to the student in the community with the highest PEP exam result, as well as 330 school bags, 144 supplies kits, 8 Chromebooks, 33 book vouchers worth 5,000 JMD, 2 Samsung tablets, and other supplies.
The day was enjoyable and educational for the children in attendance. Bags were arranged and filled with colorful supplies and educational materials. In addition to that, there were bouncy houses, clowns, and plenty of food and drinks to keep the children entertained. The volunteers and board members were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout the day, ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Highlights of the day included recognizing young talents, with essay winners being called to the stage to collect their well-deserved prizes. The scholarship winner, a symbol of hope and potential, received her scholarship, inspiring other students.
The event showcased the effectiveness of the Foundation's programs in generating positive change. The unwavering commitment and diligence from volunteers and the enthusiasm demonstrated by children illustrated the power of community, education, and support. The day was full of happiness, optimism, and the promise of a brighter future.
