Bridgeview Foundation is excited to announce new for 2022, The Joyce Raphael Scholarship for Academic Excellence and The Essay Writing Competition. The Scholarship will be awarded to a student from Maryland District with the Highest PEP Exam Results. The total scholarship is valued at J$200,000 and will last for 5 years at J$40,000 per year.
We will also be distributing school bags and other supplies. Our Sponsors include, Love and Power Ministries Deliverance Center, Food For The Poor Organization, The Way Empowering Missions International, the Joyce Raphael Family and private donors.
The Joyce Raphael Scholarship for Academic Excellence is in honor of Mrs. Joyce D. Raphael. She was a ardent proponent for education and academic excellence, and vibrant member of the community of Maryland District, St. Andrew, Jamaica.
She owned and operated a Basic School in the 1940s and taught in the Jamaica Movement for the Advancement of Literacy (JAMAL) Program in the 1970s.
Mrs. Raphael was also involved in several community activities, a businesswoman, Justice of the Peace, Secretary/Treasurer of the Peoples Cooperative Bank, School Board Member, Lay Reader in the Anglican Church, and a Trusted Advisor to many.
Her life-long service did not go unnoticed, she was honored by the community in 1996 and later on awarded the Badge of Honor (Meritorious Service) for Community Service by the Governor General in 1997.
